Graduate Medical Education
At Nationwide Children’s Hospital, national leadership in children’s health care begins with the education of the next generation of medical professionals. This year, more than 320 residents and fellows received training at the hospital and in collaboration with regional institutions to provide trainees with diverse patient experiences. Our residents and fellows make a difference in the lives of thousands of children every day. We provide residents with the comprehensive knowledge base and skills required to pursue rewarding careers and advance the field of pediatrics. Our residencies integrate a remarkable array of hands-on clinical and community experiences with strong mentoring by world-class faculty. Residents provide excellent patient and family-focused care, demonstrate effective communication within our health care teams, and have strong interests in research, quality improvement and education.
We offer high-quality, nationally recognized pediatric fellowship programs in a wide range of specialties. With more than 50 fellowship programs available every year, prospective fellows choose Nationwide Children’s for this next stage in their career because of the faculty and their commitment to education; the range of conditions and diversity of patients; and the resources devoted to research and education to advance the practice of pediatric medicine. Our large patient population, with significant volumes of surgical and medical patients, distinguished faculty, and outstanding academic productivity, provides fellows with the tremendous breadth of experience necessary to develop into outstanding academic pediatric specialists.
